Getting Fresh

Hey everyone, I’m back.

I just wanted to share with you how happy I am with my new home at FRESH KARMA DISPENSARIES. I feel like this is something I could shout to the rooftops, I’ve never felt more like part of a family in a workplace than I do here.

All of my coworkers are genuinely good people, people who care about patients in Missouri and want to make sure they are getting the best experience they can, along side being knowledgeable and understanding.

I guess you could say we’re all lucky, not everyone will have the opportunity to work for this amazing company, or be part of what we are doing for the state. It gives me a lot of joy to be able to bring this kind of experience to patients in Missouri, people who need medicine and want to get the best that they can in order to treat some of the symptoms they experience on a daily basis.

I’m trying not to get choked up while I write this, but I am so blessed to have this opportunity and I am insanely grateful that Fresh Karma chose me to represent their brand. I didn’t realize how important it would be to me to have this kind of support, but I’m so glad that I have it.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’re aware that I have multiple sclerosis. It is an often times debilitating chronic disease that has no known cure. However, I have been able to treat many of my symptoms with medical cannabis and I am so fortunate to have that option.

Some days it doesn’t feel like it’s worth fighting for, or rather, it didn’t feel like it was worth fighting for. But now, now I have so much passion, so much drive and feelings of perseverance, I hope that I can facilitate that for other patients in Missouri.

Over the past months, I’ve been able to talk to patients in Missouri while training at the other Fresh Karma locations. I have heard stories of recovery, stories of pain relief and genuine comfort. I’ve had people tell me that medical cannabis has helped with their anxiety, their PTSD, and various other medical issues. I will strive to provide that experience for everyone I come into contact with, every single day. I want you to know that I’m happy that you chose us and I want you to come back. I want you to feel free to ask questions, about anything. Nothing is silly, no question is stupid. We are here for you, we are able to do a job that we love because of you.

If you’re part of Fresh Karma and you’re reading this, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for being good people, thank you for thinking about patients, and thank you for bringing a fresh attitude to Missouri cannabis. Just, thank you. I truly cannot wait to see the great things that we will do, the great things that I will be supported in doing, and growing in general.

If you’re a Missouri patient, our Linwood location is opening November 1 and I sincerely hope you come to visit. I would love to give you the experience you deserve and can’t wait to be your favorite bud tender.

Trichome Insitiute: Interpening Course

I can’t even begin to describe how informative and educational the trichome institute interpening course was! Not only did they host an all-day class in KCMO, but they made it fun and engaging!

Watching Chef Brandon Allen and Max Montrose share their passion for cannabis totally expanded my already positive outlook on this plant. They focused on history of marijuana, terpenes, common misconceptions, and the lack of legitimate quality control in the cannabis industry, among other things.

So, here’s my takeaway from the course (that I passed with flying colors)

  1. Strain Names are bogus & in no way accurately describe how a specific plant will effect you.
  2. You can learn more about your medicine based on how it looks (inflorescence) and smells (terpenes).
  3. Lab Testing doesn’t test for everything that could happen to the plant. (Spider Mites, Mold, Mildew)
  4. “OG” doesn’t stand for “ocean grown”, but actually “original gangsters” (original growers who put their necks out growing cannabis during prohibition)
  5. The proper way to identify species of cannabis is via the shape of the leaves (broad leaf/narrow leaf)
  6. All cannabis in the market is technically a hybrid plant
  7. “The Entourage Effect”
  8. Extreme or Bright Purple/Blue Cannabis coloring is done with DYE
  9. Our Olfactory System is the bees knees.
  10. Coughing ≠ better high (In fact, it is indicative in consumption of poor quality cannabis)

The test for certification as a level one interpener was intense, but I really feel like it challenged me in a good way. I’m even more confident with my knowledge of Cannabis now, and I’m hyper-focused on learning as much as I can.

To anyone reading and thinking “hey I wanna learn more about cannabis” or “man this Dani chick is super rad, I should subscribe to her blog” — DO IT!!

Watching things grow

As Missouri moves forward with the medical cannabis industry, I’m hoping that many more wonderful groups will be able to take part in this exciting new endeavor. It’s always exhilarating to witness something new happen, watch how people work together for the greater good and see groups get rewarded for all of their hard work.

It’s amazing to see how many forward-thinking companies have been given their licenses in Kansas City. It’s very humbling, I’m sure, for many of these companies that did not receive their license. However, I’m positive that many of them see this as an opportunity to make improvements and changes to their original plans. Expanding upon already wonderful ideas and helping bridge the gap between what we were told and what is actually true about cannabis.

As more and more cannabis entrepreneurs & visionary’s are coming into the scene, My wish is that they can continue to work together for better, higher quality medicine, viable testing/quality control and the End of the unnecessary prohibition of cannabis.

It is my sincere hope that people like myself will be able to help others understand how beneficial this is to our community and to humans in general. Someday, I will be traveling this world and sharing how wonderful cannabis truly is. I would be delighted if you’d join me.

Cannabis Industry Showcase

I had the pleasure of attending the Cannabis Industry Showcase in Kansas City this weekend. The schedule was packed full of engaging speakers and a plethora of #CannabisIndustry information; From Compliance to Hiring, when/how to advertise and to find your place in this fast-growing industry as both an employee and employer.

I spent a fair amount of time listening to some of the industry’s experts recall the roadblocks they dealt with, as well as how they managed to move past those roadblocks and persevere. Speakers like Max from The Trichome Institute made a point of snuffing out many of the misconceptions and misinformation regarding cannabis, as well as providing loads of factual, scientific evidence.

Wy Livingston shared a compelling and informative speech “You don’t have to get high to see green”, which focused on the many ways to monetize your passion for cannabis without having to consume it in traditional methods.

MoCannTrade booth at the Expo

The Expo housed many companies and businesses that have found their niche in the Cannabis industry. A group close to my heart MoCannTrade, had a wonderful booth with a ton of great canna-gear. There were booths from local security like CST Solutions, to many other experts who specialize in Cannabis. I saw companies like Simplifya who focus on Compliance (an often tricky aspect of this industry), and New Growth Insurance, an insurance group that specializes in Cannabis, Hemp, & CBD only insurances.

Additionally, a local Mechanical Engineering/Contracting & HVAC “Design Mechanical” had a booth dedicated to designing and installing Cultivation Facilities, focusing on increasing yield and efficiency while providing the highest quality design work for KC’s Cannabis Companies/Businesses.

Day 2, I found myself bouncing around The Oliver Building, listening to various informative discussions on Cannabis. My favorite speech of the day was from Sarara Corva, “Consumption and Over-Consumption” — Sarara provided a lot of beneficial information regarding cannabis consumption and generously offered samples of UnDoo “the greened out antidote”

Overall, the Cannabis Industry Showcase was educational and engaging. I’m eagerly awaiting the official licensing for many hopeful local Missouri cannabis companies, as well as the end to marijuana prohibition in the USA.

I sincerely appreciate the experience I had this weekend and cannot wait to see what KCMO shows us in the coming months/years. Thanks for reading & stay tuned for more!
